Welcome to the 22nd International Probabilistic Workshop (IPW 2026)
We are delighted to invite you to the 22nd International Probabilistic Workshop (IPW 2026), taking place from September 23-25, 2026, at the University of Padova, Italy, hosted by the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering.
IPW 2026 continues its tradition of uniting experts and practitioners to explore the critical role of uncertainty in engineering. This premier international forum serves as a platform for researchers, practitioners, and students to delve into the application of probability methods in addressing real-world challenges across design, assessment, and system management.
The workshop's core focus lies in rationally integrating uncertainty into engineering practices, spanning from structural reliability evaluation to the development of comprehensive risk management strategies. Since its inception in 2003, IPW has evolved into a global event fostering collaboration across diverse engineering and scientific disciplines.
IPW 2026 welcomes contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following key areas:
• Structural safety and reliability
• Uncertainty modelling and quantification
• Predicting and preparing for climate threats and extreme events
• Robustness and resilience of buildings and infrastructure
• Design, construction and maintenance decision making
• Risk management and insurability
• Digital tools in risk identification, assessment and mitigation
• Artificial Intelligence for simulation, analytics and decision support
To enrich the program and demonstrate practical applications, the submission of case studies and interdisciplinary collaborations is strongly encouraged. These will showcase how probabilistic methods are applied across civil, mechanical, and environmental domains, promoting enhanced management and more sustainable practices.
In addition to its general themes, IPW 2026 will focus on key topics structured around the following axes, aiming to foster contrasts that promote scientific dialogue and collaboration:
• Probabilistic risk assessment in infrastructure planning
• Resilience-based design of critical infrastructure
• Uncertainty quantification in structural health monitoring
• Machine learning applications in probabilistic structural analysis
• Climate change impacts on infrastructure reliability
• Multi-hazard probabilistic assessment for complex systems
Through engaging presentations, discussions, and interactive sessions, participants will explore these topics, sharing insights and advancing the field of probabilistic engineering.
IPW 2026 promises to be an enlightening and productive workshop, continuing the tradition of excellence while showcasing the University of Padova's contributions to the field
Join us in the beautiful city of Padova, where centuries of academic tradition meet innovative research, for an unforgettable IPW 2026.
Together, we'll explore the frontiers of probability in engineering and shape the future of our field.
