
Application and admission
Admission to the MSc Programme in Environmental Engineering at University of Padova is open to foreign students holding a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification recognised by the University of Padua. Qualifications will be evaluated by the “Foreign Section” (Sezione titoli esteri) of the Students Secretariat following application for assessment and recognition of credits. Students intending to complete the Master Programme will be required to demonstrate skills in the subjects outlined below:
Mathematics
Hydraulics
Physics
Chemistry
Soil mechanics
All candidates must have a proven proficiency in English. PROCEDURES AND DEADLINES A. For citizens from EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, non-EU citizens resident in Italy with a Residence Permit (Permesso di soggiorno) or a Residence Card (Carta di soggiorno) for work, family or asylum and Italian citizens with foreign qualifications. EU citizens and EU-equated citizens who wish to apply for an Italian degree course must observe the same deadlines and procedures of Italian citizens. Deadline and application forms for pre-enrolment and enrolment application will be available at the University website: www.unipd.it In order to be valid, the pre-registration to tests and the online enrolment must be completed by submitting the following documents to the Enrolment Office (Ufficio Immatricolazioni, via Venezia 13). Documents to be enclosed with the application form are:
- original secondary school leaver’s diploma (translated into Italian and authenticated)
- original university certificate, and an academic transcript detailing examinations and content of the courses (translated into Italian and authenticated).The qualification will be verified in order to grant the admission (for applicants with a foreign academic qualification)
- a “Declaration of value” (Dichiarazione di valore) of both qualifications (apply to the Italian Embassy or Consulate of the country where the student was awarded the qualification)
- a copy of Residence Permit (Permesso di soggiorno) or Residence Card (Carta di soggiorno) – non-EU citizens only.
In order to accomplish the online enrolment, the applicant must be provided of tax identification number (codice fiscale). For non –EU citizens residing abroad Non-EU citizens residing abroad must first apply to the Italian embassy or consulate in their Country; they cannot apply directly to the University of Padova. Between 23rd May and the deadline stated by the individual Italian embassy or consulate, applicants have to fill and hand in a pre-registration form (Form A) available at any Italian embassy or consulate. The last will transmit the application to the University via e-mail and give back all the required documents to the candidate. The Embassy must forward the following documents for enrolment:
- original secondary-school leaver’s diploma (translated into Italian and authenticated);
- original university certificate, with an academic transcript detailing examinations and the content of courses (translated into Italian and authenticated);

Deadlines will be available on the University website, www.unipd.it, in due time. Only Italian embassies or consulates can grant a student entry visa for Italy. Please remember that the tourist visa will not be accepted by the University. Within 8 days from the arrival in Italy, the candidates have to apply for a residence permit (using the special kit available at any Post Office). The SAOS (Sportello Accoglienza Ospiti Stranieri – International Student Helpdesk) at the University will be pleased to assist undergraduates and postgraduates in compiling the various documents in the folder.
