1) Vadose Zone Hydrology: Modelling and measuring flow and transport in porous media, environmental, hydraulic and ecological implications. Soil vegetation feedbacks and their impact on the water balance at different scales.
2) Eco-hydrology and biogeochemical processes: modeling soil-vegetation-atmosphere interaction in arid and semiarid land and in fire prone ecosystems, vegetation patterns and fire regime. Evaluating ecosystem stability and resilience in climate change scenarios.
3) Urban Hydrology and Sustainable water management: design of low impact development systems to manage stormwater as close to its source as possible. Modelling water recharge, pollutant transport and dilution and biomass balance in constructed wetlands.
