Objectives | About 80% of available information, personal and collective decisions have a relation with the territory. The increasing availability of geographic information and the rapid development of new technologies for the management of geographic data (from drones, to WebGIS, to Mobile-GIS) require the updating, the reorganization and the development of decision-making processes in many sectors of the economy, public administration and the non-profit. The Master aims to prepare the new professional profiles of GIScience and Geographic information (Geographic Information Manager, Geographic Information Officer, Geographic Knowledge Enabler, Geographic Information Specialist, GeoData Analyst) able to: use appropriate interdisciplinary approaches, technological solutions and geographic information in addressing complex territorial issues; manage the transformation of technologies supporting GIScience and orienting the identification of appropriate solutions for businesses, government agencies, citizenship. |

Credit recognition | The Steering Committee can recognize previously followed training activities if consistent with the characteristics of the master and certified by appropriate documentation, to a maximum of 20 credits. The Steering Committee can also recognize up to a maximum of 12 credits for teaching, research and working experiences in areas relevant to the disciplines of the master, certified by appropriate documentation. The CFU above are cumulative to a maximum of 20. |
Selection | Selection will be based on the evaluation of Curriculum; Thesis; Other publications; Other documentation the applicant think useful for the selection. In order to participate at the selection for the admission, applicants should attach a letter addressed to the Steering Committee of the master, describing in detail the reasons to apply to the master and the areas the candidate intends to deepen in field of: GIScience, Unmanned Systems, the integrated management of territory and natural resources. It is compulsory the candidate indicates which of the four academic path he/she intends to attend. |

Organization of the Master
For the academic year 2020/2021, the common courses will be delivered for the most part in synchronous videoconference with some face-to-face activities. These aspects will be better defined after the measures for the prevention of contagion from COVID19 will be organized.

Attendance | The master offers 1 path presential learning and 6 paths on distance learning. Each path is divided into 20 credits of common courses (160 hours), 18 CFU of specific course (144 hours) and 18 credits of internship (450 hours) and 4 credits of final evaluation (100 hours). The lessons of the Masters will be held on Friday and Saturday (16 hours). For all path the first 160 hours of common courses (20 credits) will be organized face to face for a duration of 10 weeks between November 2020 and February 2021. For the paths with face to face education the specific courses (18 credits, 144 hours) will be held for another 15 weeks between February and July 2020 on Friday and Saturday. For distance learning paths 18 credits of specific curses (144 hours) will be offered by recorded videoconferences. The activity will be completed by a stage to be implemented with the supervision of a master's professor at one of the Departments involved in the Master or at one of the institutions signing a training agreement with the Master. |

Other information | Each academic path will be activated with a minimum number of 6 participants, under the condition of 10 people to activate the Master. The activity will be completed by a stage to be implemented with the supervision of a master's professor at one of the Departments involved in the Master or at one of the institutions signing a training agreement with the Master. As alternative to the stage it is possible to carry out a project Work to be agreed with the direction of the Master. In agreement with FTO Remotefly, business partner of the master, people who have completed the master can access the "Pilot Course for RPAS (Remote Pilot Aircraft System)" with a 50% reduction in the frequency and the resulting discount on the price of the "Course for RPAS pilot". |

The Master is divided into 20 credits of common courses, 18 CFU for each academic path and 22 credits of stage. There are 304 hours of lectures, 646 hours of individual study, and 550 hours of stage for a total of 1,500 hours, corresponding to 60 credits.
Much of the teaching will be carried out in a computer room and / or laptops.
The Master takes the approach of learning in the situation, alternating lectures of teachers with practical examples and immediate experimentation. There will be excursions and survey activities on the field.

In individual courses of the Master area available either for applicants holding the qualification required for admission to the Master, and applicants without the qualification. The qualification will determine the type of final certification for each attended course:
a) certification of exam with the indication of the CFU and synthetic course program for applicants holding the qualification required for the admission to the Master who have taken their profit checks (checks do not involve voting, but only a judgment about passing the examination eventually with merit or fail)
b) certificate of attendance for applicants without the qualification required for admission.

Listeners are participants attending the Master course, without the required university qualification, but owning a proven professional experience.
Listeners only attend the lessons without having to take stage or project work.
They enjoy a reduced entry fee of € 1,900.00.
At the end of the course, the listener who has passed the minimum attendance requirement receive a certificate of attendance by the Director of the Master.
